American Fridge Freezers for sale
New American fridge freezers from £799, delivered and installed across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire — with your old one taken away and recycled.
We supply American-style fridge freezers in side-by-side, French door and multi-door formats from Samsung, LG, Hisense, Beko, Haier, Bosch, Liebherr, Smeg and Rangemaster, in widths from 830mm up to 1,200mm and capacities from around 450 to 700 litres. These are the most involved appliances we deliver, and the questions that decide a successful installation are practical ones: can we get it in, is there a water supply within reach, and does the space have adequate ventilation and door swing clearance? We survey those points before you order, not on the day. Access is the one that catches people out — a 1,200mm appliance needs a clear route through doorways and around corners, and many models can only be tilted a limited amount without risking the sealed system. Our own engineers handle delivery and installation: positioning, precise levelling so the wide doors self-close and align, door adjustment, plumbing the water supply with an isolating tap and filter, purging the line, and verifying both compartment temperatures with calibrated thermometers before we leave. We'll also set the ice maker running and check the first batch. Your old appliance is removed for specialist WEEE refrigerant recovery. Reconditioned American fridge freezers are available with our own 6-month parts and labour guarantee.
What we sell
Before you buy: is repairing cheaper?
American fridge freezers are the strongest repair case in the refrigeration category, simply because of what they cost to replace. A comparable appliance is £1100 to £2,500, and replacement also means getting a 1,000–1,200mm wide, 120–140kg appliance into a kitchen and the old one out — not a trivial exercise in a Cambridge terrace or a first-floor flat. Against that, the 50% rule leaves an enormous margin for a £110 call-out plus the part. Typical lifespan is 10 to 15 years, and it's usually the water and ice systems rather than the refrigeration that need attention along the way. Ice maker modules, inlet valves, auger motors, fans, dampers and defrost components are all economical fixes. Inverter driver boards, a known failure mode on modern Samsung and LG appliances, are a genuinely worthwhile repair given the alternative. The one case for replacement is a failed compressor combined with an appliance well past twelve years old and already showing water system faults. Environmentally, these are the largest and most material-intensive domestic appliances made, with correspondingly high manufacturing footprints and refrigerant charges that require specialist recovery at end of life. Keeping one running is unambiguously the better outcome, and we'll always give you the honest cost picture before you decide.

How to choose the right American fridge freezer
Measure the access route, not just the gap
A 1,200mm wide appliance has to get through your front door, round the hall corner and into the kitchen. Measure the narrowest point of the route and any tight turns. Many models restrict how far they can be tilted, so a staircase or a sharp turn can rule out a specific appliance entirely — check before you order, not after.
Side-by-side, French door or multi-door
Side-by-side gives two tall narrow compartments and works well if you freeze a lot; the narrow fridge shelves won't take a large platter. French door gives a full-width fridge at eye level with freezer drawers below and suits most households better. Multi-door adds a convertible zone you can switch between fridge and freezer.
Plumbed or non-plumbed water
A plumbed model needs a cold supply within reach and gives unlimited chilled water and ice. A non-plumbed tank model needs manual refilling but avoids the plumbing, the filter, and a whole category of potential faults. If you'd genuinely use ice daily, plumb it; if not, the simpler appliance is the better buy.
Twin cooling versus shared air
Twin-cooling models run separate evaporators for each compartment, which stops odour transfer and keeps the fridge humid so fresh food lasts noticeably longer. It also means a fault in one circuit doesn't disable the other. On an appliance at this price point, it's a feature worth paying for.
Energy rating on a large continuous load
These are the largest domestic refrigeration appliances made and they run continuously for a decade or more, so the energy label matters. Under the 2021 scale, E is typical for this category, D is good and C or better is excellent. The gap between an F and a C over twelve years can exceed £500 in electricity.
Ventilation and door swing clearance
Allow the manufacturer's stated clearance at the rear and sides, and check the doors can open to at least 90 degrees without fouling a wall or an adjacent unit — otherwise you can't remove the salad drawers. Corner installations frequently fail this test and it's very hard to fix afterwards.
Inverter compressor and noise
Inverter and linear compressors run continuously at variable speed rather than cycling on and off, which is more efficient and much less intrusive in an open-plan kitchen. Look for 39–42dB. Be aware that continuous running is normal behaviour for these compressors and not a sign of a fault.
Filter availability and running cost
Factor in a water filter every six months for the life of the appliance — that's £25–£45 each, so £50–£110 a year. Check the filter is a widely available type before you buy, because some models use proprietary cartridges that are expensive and occasionally hard to source after a few years.
Do you deliver, install, plumb in and take the old appliance away?
Yes, all of it. We position and precisely level the appliance so the wide doors align and self-close, adjust the doors, fit an isolating tap and plumb the water supply with a filter, purge the line, run the first ice batch and verify both compartment temperatures. The old appliance goes for specialist WEEE refrigerant recovery.
Will it fit through my door?
That's the first thing we check. We need the narrowest point on the route in, including any hall corners and stair turns, and we check the specific model's permitted tilt angle. It's much better to establish this before ordering than to discover it with an appliance on the pavement.
Do I need a water supply for it?
Only if you choose a plumbed model. Plumbed appliances need a cold supply within reach, which we tee off with an isolating tap. Non-plumbed models have an internal tank you refill manually and avoid the plumbing entirely — a sensible choice if you use ice only occasionally.
How much do the water filters cost to keep replacing?
Typically £25–£45 per filter, changed every six months, so £50–£110 a year. We check the filter type is widely available before recommending a model, since some proprietary cartridges become expensive or hard to source a few years after a model is discontinued.
How quickly can you deliver?
Stocked models are usually delivered and installed within three to five working days across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. These installations are booked with a longer slot than standard appliances because levelling, door adjustment and plumbing all take time to do properly.
Do you sell American fridge freezers?
Yes, when good examples come in. Each is run through a full pull-down and hold test with calibrated thermometers in both compartments, has its water and ice systems tested and filter replaced, seals and condenser checked, and comes with our 6-month parts and labour guarantee.
