Cookers for sale
New cookers from £279, delivered and installed across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire — with your old one taken away and recycled.
We supply freestanding cookers in 50cm and 60cm widths across electric, gas and dual-fuel, from Beko, Indesit, Hotpoint, Zanussi, Belling, Stoves, New World, Bosch and Candy. Freestanding cookers are the practical choice wherever you want a single appliance to do everything, want to be able to take it with you, or are fitting out a rental property — and they are the format we deliver most often across Cambridge's rental stock and Huntingdon's family housing. Installation is carried out by our own engineers. On electric cookers that means checking the existing cooker circuit and isolator rating, making off the connection at the terminal block correctly, fitting the anti-tip stability bracket the regulations require, levelling the appliance and testing every function before we leave. On gas and dual-fuel cookers the gas connection is made by a Gas Safe registered engineer, who will also check the bayonet fitting, the flexible hose and its date, and the appliance's flame picture and stability chain. Your old cooker is taken away for WEEE recycling at no extra cost. We also stock cookers — fully tested across oven, grill and every hob zone, with worn elements and regulators replaced — carrying our own 6-month parts and labour guarantee.
What we sell
Before you buy: is repairing cheaper?
Freestanding cookers sit at both ends of the repair spectrum depending on what you paid. A 50cm budget electric cooker costs £280–£400 new, which puts the 50% threshold at £140–£200 — comfortably above our £90 call-out plus an element, thermostat or energy regulator, but below the same call-out plus a replacement ceramic hob top, which is why cracked glass is usually the point at which a budget cooker is retired. A 60cm mid-range or Belling range-style cooker at £500–£900 makes almost every repair worthwhile. Typical lifespan is 8 to 13 years, and it is generally the hob, not the oven, that decides the end. Ovens on freestanding cookers are simple and long-lived; hobs take spills, impacts and thermal abuse. One factor unique to this appliance: a charred terminal block or damaged cable tails should be repaired properly whatever the cooker's value, because that is a safety issue rather than a convenience one. Environmentally, a cooker is a heavy steel and glass appliance whose manufacture far outweighs its annual running impact, so repair wins wherever the economics allow. If replacement is genuinely the right call, we can supply, deliver, connect and take the old cooker away.

How to choose the right cooker
50cm or 60cm — measure the gap first
Cooker gaps are almost always 500mm or 600mm, and you need 2–3mm clearance either side plus the depth for the connection behind. A 60cm cooker gives a noticeably larger oven cavity, typically 60–75 litres against 40–55 for a 50cm, which is the difference between fitting a large roasting tin and not.
Electric, gas or dual fuel
Dual fuel — gas hob with an electric fan oven — is the enthusiast's choice, giving instant hob control with even oven baking. All-electric is simplest and cheapest to install where there's a suitable circuit. All-gas has the lowest running cost per unit of energy but a less even oven. Your existing supply usually decides it for you.
Single or twin cavity
Twin cavity cookers give a separate smaller oven that doubles as a grill, letting you cook two dishes at different temperatures. Single cavity gives one larger space and a grill in the roof of the main oven. Families cooking multiple dishes usually prefer twin; anyone regularly roasting large joints prefers single.
Hob type on electric models
Ceramic hobs look better, wipe clean easily and heat faster than solid plates, but crack if you drop a pan and etch if you spill sugar. Solid cast plates are nearly indestructible and cheap to replace individually, but slow to heat and cool. For a rental property, solid plates are often the pragmatic choice.
Check the electrical supply rating
A 60cm electric cooker can draw 30A or more with everything on and needs a dedicated cooker circuit with an appropriately rated isolator. Some 50cm cookers can run on a 13A plug, but never assume — we check the existing supply before ordering rather than discovering the problem on installation day.
Oven capacity and shelf layout
Compare usable litres rather than external dimensions, and check the number of shelf positions and whether the shelves are properly rigid. Cookers at the budget end often have flimsy shelves that bow under a full roasting tin. It's a small detail that becomes annoying weekly.
Stability bracket and safety
Every freestanding cooker must be secured with an anti-tip stability bracket or chain, and on gas cookers a stability chain is a specific regulatory requirement. We fit this as part of every installation. If your existing cooker isn't secured, that's worth correcting whether or not you're replacing it.
Do you connect the new cooker and take the old one away?
Yes, both included. For electric cookers we check the circuit and isolator, make off the terminal block connection, fit the anti-tip stability bracket and test every function. Gas connections are made by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Your old cooker goes for WEEE recycling at no extra charge.
Can you swap a gas cooker for an electric one?
That depends on your electrical supply. An electric cooker needs a dedicated cooker circuit of adequate rating, which many kitchens with a gas cooker don't have. We'll check what's there and tell you what would be needed, and any new circuit work should be carried out by a qualified electrician before the fit.
Do you fit the stability bracket?
Yes, as standard on every installation. Freestanding cookers must be secured against tipping, and on gas appliances a stability chain is a specific requirement. It takes a few minutes and it's not something we treat as optional or chargeable.
How quickly can you deliver and install?
Stocked cookers are usually delivered and connected within two to three working days across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, with a timed slot rather than an all-day window. Gas installations are scheduled around Gas Safe engineer availability, which may add a day or two.
Do you supply cookers for rental properties?
Yes, and it's a substantial part of what we do locally. We can deliver and install with the tenant present and invoice the landlord or agent directly, with installation confirmation emailed. Reconditioned 50cm and 60cm cookers with a 6-month guarantee are particularly popular for this.
Do cookers come with a guarantee?
Yes, 6 months on parts and labour. Every cooker is tested across the oven, grill and each hob zone, with worn elements, regulators and seals replaced, before it's offered for sale.
