Cost guide

How much does appliance repair cost?

One call-out from £90, plus parts. That is the whole pricing model, and it is on this page because not one of our local competitors publishes theirs.

Our price, in one line

A call-out from £90 covers the visit, the diagnosis and the labour. You only pay for parts on top of that. There is no separate diagnosis fee, no hourly rate, and no second call-out charge if a part has to be ordered and fitted on a return visit.

Why a fixed fee instead of an hourly rate

Appliance repair quotes are usually built from three moving parts: a call-out fee, an hourly labour rate and the cost of the component. Two of those three are guesses until the engineer has the back off the machine, which is exactly why so many customers feel ambushed by the final bill.

Charging one fixed call-out per appliance removes two of the three variables. Whether the job takes twenty minutes or two hours, whether the machine is freestanding or built into a run of units, the labour costs the same. The only thing left to agree is the part — and you agree that before we fit it.

Every repair carries a 6 months guarantee on the part we fitted and the work of fitting it. That is the cover; the figures in the next table are how long an appliance tends to last, which is a different thing entirely.

How long these appliances usually last

Useful when you are deciding whether a repair is worth it. This is the machine's expected working life with reasonable maintenance — it is not a period of cover, and nothing here is guaranteed.

What still affects the total

  • The part itself. A door seal is inexpensive; a compressor or an induction generator board is not.
  • Brand. Miele and Gaggenau components cost more and sometimes come only from the manufacturer. Beko and Indesit spares are cheap and widely available.
  • Whether we have it on the van. A first-time fix means one visit. An ordered part means a few days — but never a second call-out charge with us.
  • Nothing else. Not the access, not how long it takes, not the day of the week.

The honest bit

Sometimes the right answer is don't repair it. If the part pushes the total above roughly half the cost of an equivalent new machine and the appliance is already old, we will say so — and we would rather sell you the right replacement than a repair you regret. Our repair-or-replace guide sets out where that line sits for each appliance.

How much does appliance repair cost?

With us it is one number: a call-out from £90, which covers the visit, the diagnosis and the labour, plus the cost of any parts. Nothing is charged by the hour and there is no separate diagnosis fee. Across the wider market, call-out fees typically run £60 to £150 before labour and parts are added on top, which is why comparing quotes is so difficult.

Is there a call-out charge?

Yes, and it is the whole labour charge rather than an extra on top of one. £90 for a standard appliance, £100 if it is integrated, £110 for a cooker hood, a range cooker or an American fridge freezer. If we cannot fix the appliance you pay the £90 and nothing else.

What do parts cost?

It depends entirely on the component. A door seal or a thermostat is modest; a compressor, an induction generator board or a bearing kit is considerably more. We tell you the exact price of the part before we fit it, and you decide.

Why don't other appliance repair companies publish prices?

Because vague pricing lets the number move once the engineer is in your kitchen. Ours is on the website so you can decide before anyone knocks on the door.

Do you charge more for evenings or weekends?

No. The £90 is the same Saturday and Sunday as it is on a Tuesday, during our normal opening hours. Genuine out-of-hours emergency call-outs are quoted before we set off.
