Microwaves for sale

New microwaves from £129, delivered and installed across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire — with your old one taken away and recycled.

We supply built-in microwaves, combination microwave-ovens, compact built-in models and freestanding microwaves from Panasonic, Bosch, Neff, Siemens, Samsung, Sharp, Whirlpool, AEG, Miele and Hotpoint. Built-in and combination models are where we add the most value, because they have to match a housing aperture, often need a specific trim kit, and depend on correct ventilation to reach their expected life — all of which we check before you order rather than on the day. A combination microwave in a compact 45cm housing is one of the most useful appliances in a modern kitchen, working as a microwave, a grill and a small convection oven, and it's the format we recommend most often for second-oven duty. Our engineers handle the installation: verifying the aperture, fitting the trim kit and securing the appliance, confirming the housing ventilation meets the manufacturer's specification, and testing every function including a water-load output check before we leave. For freestanding models we'll advise on siting — clear vents, nothing stored on top, and a socket that isn't shared with other high-load appliances. Your old microwave is taken away for WEEE recycling at no extra cost. Reconditioned built-in and combination models are available, each fully tested and leakage-checked, with our 6-month parts and labour guarantee.

Before you buy: is repairing cheaper?

Microwaves are the one appliance category where the answer genuinely splits by type. A basic freestanding microwave costs £70–£150 new, which puts the 50% threshold at £35–£75 — below almost any repair, so for these we will usually tell you honestly that replacement is the sensible choice. A built-in or combination microwave is a completely different calculation: £400–£900 to replace, plus the need to match the housing aperture and often source a trim kit, which means a straight swap isn't guaranteed. Against that, a £90 call-out plus the part is clearly worthwhile, and this is where most of our microwave work sits. Typical lifespan is 7 to 10 years freestanding and 9 to 12 built-in, with the magnetron as the limiting component — its life is measured in operating hours, so usage matters more than age. Door interlocks, latches, turntable motors, waveguide covers and keypads are all economical fixes at any point in the appliance's life. Environmentally, a microwave is a compact but material-dense appliance containing a magnetron, a substantial transformer and significant copper. Around 40 million microwaves are discarded across Europe annually, many for faults that come down to one cheap part. Where the appliance is worth repairing, repairing it is clearly the right call — and we'll be straight with you when it isn't.

Buying guide

How to choose the right microwave

Solo, grill or combination

A solo microwave just heats. A grill model adds a radiant element for browning. A combination adds convection so it works as a genuine small fan oven, typically 30–45 litres, and can roast and bake. If you're buying for a built-in housing, combination is almost always the right choice — the extra capability costs less than a separate compact oven.

Wattage and what it means in practice

800W is the everyday standard, 900–1,000W noticeably faster, and anything below 700W frustratingly slow for family cooking. Note that packet instructions are written for 800W, so a lower-powered appliance needs times extended. Combination models quote separate figures for microwave, grill and convection power.

Inverter power control

Conventional microwaves deliver 50 percent power by running full power half the time; inverter models genuinely deliver continuous lower power. That makes a real difference to defrosting and to delicate reheating — less rubbery edges on fish and less curdled sauces. Panasonic pioneered this and it's worth seeking out.

Capacity versus turntable diameter

Litres alone can mislead — what matters is whether your usual dinner plate fits and can rotate. Check the turntable diameter, ideally 315mm or more for a family appliance. Flatbed models without a turntable use a stirrer instead and take a bigger plate for the same external size, and they're easier to clean.

Built-in aperture and trim kits

Built-in microwaves fit standard housings, commonly 380mm or 450mm high in a 595mm wide unit, but the trim kit is model-specific. If you're replacing a built-in appliance, we check the aperture and confirm whether the existing trim can be reused before ordering — that check avoids an expensive surprise.

Ventilation is a specification, not a suggestion

Built-in microwaves need the manufacturer's stated ventilation gaps in the housing so the magnetron cooling air can escape. A tightly boxed-in appliance derates and fails early. We verify this at installation, and if a housing needs a vent cut or a spacer, it's far better to know before the appliance is fitted.

Flatbed versus turntable

Flatbed models remove the turntable and drive coupler — two of the more common failure points — and are much easier to clean, with no ring or plate to wash. They also take a larger dish for the same cavity size. The trade-off is a slightly higher price and, on some models, marginally less even heating.

Ease of cleaning and cavity finish

Stainless steel cavities look good and clean well but show marks; enamel cavities are easier to wipe and cheaper. Look for a removable roof grill on combination models, which makes cleaning above the element practical rather than a nightmare. This detail matters more over ten years than any headline feature.

Questions
Do you install built-in microwaves and take the old one away?

Yes, both included. We verify the aperture, fit the trim kit, secure the appliance, confirm the housing ventilation meets the manufacturer's specification and test every function including a water-load output check. The old microwave goes for WEEE recycling at no extra charge.

Will a new built-in microwave fit my existing housing?

Usually, but the trim kit is model-specific so it isn't guaranteed. We measure the aperture and check whether your existing trim can be reused before ordering. If a new trim kit or a small housing modification is needed, we'll tell you before you commit rather than on installation day.

Is a combination microwave a good substitute for a second oven?

For most households, yes. A 40–45 litre combination model in a compact housing will roast a chicken, bake, grill and microwave, and costs considerably less than a separate compact oven. It won't match a full-size oven for capacity, but as a second cooking appliance it's excellent value.

Is an inverter microwave worth the extra?

If you defrost and reheat delicate things regularly, yes. Inverter models deliver genuine continuous low power rather than pulsing full power on and off, which means fish that isn't rubbery at the edges and sauces that don't split. For plain reheating of robust food, a conventional model is perfectly adequate.

How quickly can you deliver and install?

Freestanding models are usually available within two to three working days, and built-in installations within three to five across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Built-in fits are booked with a longer slot because withdrawing the old appliance, fitting the trim and checking ventilation all take time.

Do you sell microwaves?

Yes, mainly built-in and combination models where the value justifies it. Each is fully tested across every function, output-checked with a water load, leakage-tested with a survey meter, and comes with our 6-month parts and labour guarantee.
