Reached on the A10 or across from Hertford on the A1170, a short run, though access to the riverside maltings conversions often means a walk from the nearest parking. We offer same-day call-outs where a slot is free, and next-day as standard.

Same day or next day in most cases. If you call before midday we can usually reach Ware the same day; book after that and it's normally the following working day. Emergency slots are held back each morning for no-cooling fridge freezers and leaking machines.

We charge one call-out from £90, which covers the visit, the diagnosis and the labour. Parts are the only extra, and we quote those for your approval before fitting anything. The rate is the same everywhere we cover — there is no travel surcharge for Ware.

Very hard — Affinity Water chalk supply in the Lea valley, generally in the order of 290 ppm calcium carbonate (roughly 20 Clark degrees). That scale coats heating elements in washing machines and dishwashers, which makes them work harder and eventually fail. Descaling every couple of months genuinely extends the life of a machine in Ware.

Yes, freestanding and integrated. An integrated machine is £10 on top of the standard £90 call-out, because it has to come out of the run of units before it can be diagnosed — integrated ovens are the exception and stay at £90. Converted maltings and industrial buildings along the riverside provide a substantial stock of flats and apartments, generally with compact, modern integrated kitchens and lift or stair access issues. Integrated machines take longer to access and sometimes need a decor door or plinth removing, but we don't charge extra for that.

No. We're a domestic appliance company only. We don't work on laundrette equipment, catering ovens, commercial dishwashers or coin-operated machines.

Apartment kitchens in the converted maltings are usually a single fitted run against one wall, with a built-in oven boxed tightly into a tall housing and the hob immediately beside or above it. Ventilation is minimal, cooling fans work continuously and the fan oven element fails at the terminal end where heat concentrates. Touch-control fascias in these newer fitted kitchens are likelier to fail than mechanical knobs, and a dead display generally points at the control board rather than the heating circuit. In the older High Street houses and the post-war streets north of the centre, conventional built-under ovens with thermostats and cut-outs are the norm.

Nobody is cutting a vent through a listed maltings wall, so the riverside conversions run condenser and heat-pump dryers exclusively, very often stacked on a bracket above the washing machine. Stacking transmits spin vibration into the dryer, loosening drum support rollers and the rear felt seal, and a scraping drum is a common call in these blocks. Lint mats the heat exchanger or evaporator fins, programmes lengthen and a thermal cut-out eventually opens. Condensate pumps silt up with lime-laden fines and leave water sitting in the base tray. Post-war houses north and east of the centre still use vented machines with far simpler hose and thermostat faults.
