Siemens is the third BSH badge, sitting alongside Bosch and Neff and sharing most of the same hardware. In practice a Siemens iQ300 or iQ500 washing machine is a Bosch Serie 4 or 6 with a different fascia and control logic, and the fault codes are identical — E18 for drain, F16 for door, F21 for motor. Siemens laundry has not been actively sold in the UK for some years, so the machines we visit are usually older, but the built-in dishwashers, ovens and hobs are still very much current.
Build quality is consistent with the rest of BSH: solid, serviceable, well documented. The failures follow the same pattern too — pumps and filters, interlocks, heat exchangers, touch modules. Where Siemens owners get caught out is on discontinued electronics for older laundry models; a functioning machine can be stranded by an unavailable display board. Everything mechanical remains easy to source. If the fault is mechanical or a common electrical part, repair is worthwhile without hesitation.

Mechanical and electrical parts share the Bosch catalogue and are readily available next day at similar prices. The exception is display and program modules for discontinued laundry models, which can be end-of-life — we confirm availability before booking a repair.

What goes wrong with Siemens appliances
E18 drain fault on iQ300 and iQ500 washing machines
The machine cannot empty within the expected time and stops with water in the drum. Nine times out of ten the pump filter is blocked, or the drain hose has been pushed too far into the standpipe and is siphoning. Where the filter is clear the pump impeller is jammed or the winding has failed.
Worn carbon brushes causing F21 on older laundry
Brush-motor Siemens washers of the WM and WS series wear their brushes out and lose drum rotation, usually announced by F21 or a machine that hums but will not spin. It is a cheap part and a common repair, but if the commutator has been running on stubs it will need skimming or the motor replacing.
E15 base tray flood switch on dishwashers
Identical to Bosch and Neff: water collects in the base, the float rises, and the machine drains continuously and will not run. The source is normally a sump seal, spray arm feed or heat pump leak, all of which are repairable in situ.
Discontinued display and control boards on older models
Siemens withdrew from the UK laundry market, and although mechanical parts remain plentiful, some display modules and program selectors for pre-2015 machines are now obsolete. We check availability before quoting so nobody pays a call-out on a machine that cannot be finished.
Hob touch controls locking out or ghost-pressing
Moisture under the glass on induction and ceramic hobs makes the controls unresponsive or triggers random beeping and power changes. Spills that run into the control area are the usual cause. The touch module is a replaceable part but must be matched exactly to the hob model.
