Terms & conditions

What this page is

A plain-English summary of how we work and what you are agreeing to when you book us. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable. Formal written terms are available on request — email info@appliancekings.co.uk and we will send them.

Nothing on this page reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If anything here ever conflicted with those rights, your rights win.

What you pay, and when

The call-out covers the visit, the diagnosis and the labour, however long the job takes. There is no hourly rate and no separate diagnosis fee. What it costs depends only on the appliance:

ApplianceCall-out
Standard freestanding — washing machine, tumble dryer, washer dryer, dishwasher, oven, hob, 60cm cooker, fridge, freezer or fridge freezer£90
Integrated appliances — £10 on top, because the machine has to come out of the units first. Integrated ovens are the exception and stay at £90.£100
Cooker hoods, range cookers and American fridge freezers£110

Parts are charged on top. We tell you what the part costs before we fit it, and you decide. If you would rather not go ahead, you pay the £90 and nothing else.

If a part has to be ordered, coming back to fit it is included. You are never charged two call-outs for one repair.

If we cannot repair the appliance, or repairing it makes no financial sense, you pay the £90 and we tell you honestly what we would do in your position.

Payment is due when the work is finished, unless we have agreed something else in writing.

The guarantee

6 months on the part we fitted and the work of fitting it. If that part fails, or the fault we repaired comes back, we return at no charge.

What it does not cover: a different fault on the same appliance, damage caused by misuse or by somebody else working on the machine afterwards, and normal wear on parts we did not supply. Nor does it cover the appliance as a whole — it is a guarantee on our repair, not a warranty on your machine.

Booking, cancelling and access

Book by phone, WhatsApp or the form. We confirm the slot, and the engineer calls ahead on the day.

If you need to cancel or move an appointment, tell us as early as you reasonably can. We do not charge a cancellation fee. If we arrive and cannot get access, we will try to rearrange rather than charge you for the visit — but please do tell us if plans change.

We need safe access to the appliance and to the water and electrical supplies. If a machine is built into a run of units, we will take the trouble to get it out; that is our job, not yours, and integrated work is charged at the same rate as freestanding.

What we do not work on

Domestic appliances only. We do not work on commercial, industrial or coin-operated machines — laundrette equipment, catering ovens or commercial dishwashers.

We are not Gas Safe registered. Gas appliance work is carried out by, or referred to, a Gas Safe registered engineer.

The maintenance plan

The plan is £19.99 a month, or £190 paid annually. It buys one inspection visit a year covering every white good in the property, a reduced call-out of £50 on anything found during that inspection, 20% off other call-outs and 10% off parts.

It is not insurance and it is not a warranty. It does not pay for parts, and it does not cover a machine that was already broken when the plan started — we will repair that first, and the plan can start afterwards. Gas appliances are not inspected.

No minimum term. Cancel with 30 days' notice and nothing further is taken. If you cancel part way through a year you have paid for annually, we will refund the unused whole months.

Multi-property discounts apply to plans running at the same time on different addresses.

Appliances we sell

New appliances carry the manufacturer's warranty, which is theirs rather than ours — but if something goes wrong we will help you deal with them rather than leaving you to it.

Delivery and installation dates are our best estimate and depend on the supplier. We will keep you told if anything moves.

Buying at a distance — over the phone or online rather than face to face — gives you 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. That does not apply to a repair you have asked us to start and complete straight away.

If something goes wrong

Tell us. Call 07849 033758 or email info@appliancekings.co.uk and it goes to the person who runs the business, not a queue. We would far rather fix a problem than have you write about it somewhere.

If we cannot sort it between us, you can take it further through your local Trading Standards service via the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.

Your information

What we collect and why is set out in the privacy notice. Short version: we use your details to do the job and honour the guarantee, we do not sell them, and we only market to you if you have said yes.
