Electrolux appliance repair

A brand we specialise in

Built-in Electrolux appliances are almost always worth repairing because replacement means paying for the fitting as well. Freestanding laundry is a straightforward cost comparison — under about seven years old, repair; beyond that, only where the part is inexpensive against the £90 call-out.

Electrolux is the parent group's own badge and sits between Zanussi and AEG. In the UK it has a smaller retail presence than either, so most of the Electrolux machines we attend are either older units, appliances specified in rental and new-build kitchens, or built-in ovens and hobs. The engineering is identical in most respects to AEG — same platforms, same fault codes, same parts catalogue — with a slightly lower specification.

They are reasonable machines. The common faults are the family ones: drain and pressure-system problems reported as E20, door interlocks, heater failures, and the i-series codes on dishwashers. Because the brand is less visible in the UK, some owners assume parts will be hard to find; in fact they come from the same Electrolux warehouse as AEG and Zanussi and are just as available. The judgement on repair is essentially economic. A built-in Electrolux oven or dishwasher is nearly always worth fixing because of the cost of replacing an integrated appliance, while a mid-life freestanding washing machine needs the repair cost weighing against what a like-for-like replacement now costs.

Parts and availability

Parts come from the same Electrolux supply chain as AEG and Zanussi, so availability is good and pricing is moderate. Consumables ship next day; boards, hinges and drum components typically take two to four working days.

Known issues

What goes wrong with Electrolux appliances

E20 drain and pressure system faults

The machine stops with water in the drum. Blocked filters are the obvious cause, but the narrow pressure chamber tube fouls with detergent residue and gives the same code. Both need clearing, and if the pump has been struggling for weeks its bearings are usually finished too.

i30 water in the base on dishwashers

The anti-flood float trips and the machine drains continuously without running a programme. The leak is normally the sump seal, a cracked pressure switch duct or a tired door gasket. Drying the tray without finding the leak only postpones the same call-out.

Heater failures in hard water areas

Elements scale and eventually fail open circuit or leak to earth, tripping the RCD. Machines run only on low-temperature eco cycles are the worst affected because the scale never gets disturbed. A running 60-degree maintenance wash once a month makes a measurable difference.

Door interlock and hinge wear

Front-loader doors sag over time so the hook no longer meets the interlock cleanly, producing door-open errors and failed starts. Replacing the interlock without correcting the hinge means the fault returns within months.

Oven fan element and thermostat drift

Built-in ovens lose accuracy as the element weakens and the thermostat drifts, so food takes longer and browns unevenly. It is easily confirmed with a probe thermometer and is a low-cost repair compared with replacing an integrated oven.
