Fisher & Paykel American fridge freezer repair in Cambridge

Fisher & Paykel leaking in freezer resolved

Ice forming at the bottom of your freezer or water leaking onto the floor is a classic sign of a blocked defrost drain. We recently attended a callout for a premium Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer in Cambridge where the customer noticed heavy ice pooling in the bottom of the freezer compartment. The Problem During a fridge freezer’s automatic defrost cycle, meltwater is supposed to flow down a small drain line at the back of the appliance and evaporate in a tray near the compressor. Over time, dust, food debris, or frozen water droplets can clog this narrow drain. When the water has nowhere to go, it backs up onto the freezer floor and freezes solid—eventually causing heavy ice build-up, blocked airflow, and temperature cooling issues. The Solution Rather than replacing expensive components or telling the customer to replace a high-end appliance, our engineer diagnosed the blocked drain line. We safely melted the frozen channel, cleared the stubborn obstruction from the drain tube, and thoroughly flushed the system to restore free-flowing drainage. We also checked the defrost heater, thermostat, and door seals to ensure the entire system was working properly. After a final check, the Fisher & Paykel unit was back in top working order.
