Smeg Cooker Hood Repair in Henlow: Fixing a Broken Switch Panel
Replacing a switch panel to make the cooker hood work
The Issue We were recently called to a property in Henlow for a domestic appliance repair involving a Smeg cooker hood that was failing to extract. Upon visual inspection (shown in image_3.png), it was clear that the main control switch panel had suffered physical damage. The unit had completely detached from the hood's chassis, leaving the internal wiring hanging exposed. Because the physical control switches were broken, the user could not engage the extractor fan motor. However, as demonstrated in image_4.png, the electrical supply to the appliance was still fully active, and the lighting circuit remained operational. The Solution To resolve this issue and restore the hood's extraction capabilities, we outlined the following repair process: 1. Isolate the appliance from the mains power supply to ensure safe working conditions. 2. Source a genuine replacement switch housing assembly specific to the Smeg KSED95X-1 model. 3. Disconnect the damaged unit and carefully wire the new switch panel into the existing internal harness. 4. Secure the new panel flush into the stainless steel canopy. 5. Test all fan speeds and lighting controls before reinstalling the metal grease filters.
