Yes. Cookers are expensive to replace once installation is factored in, and Belling parts are cheap and available. The exception is a cooker with significant corrosion or fire damage, where the cost of making it right exceeds its value.

Belling is the other Glen Dimplex cooker brand and shares much of its engineering with Stoves. It has been a fixture in British kitchens since 1912 and is most often seen as a freestanding electric or dual-fuel cooker, or as a mid-priced range cooker. The appeal is simplicity: conventional elements, mechanical or basic electronic controls and a layout any competent engineer can work on without special equipment.
The common faults are the ones every cooker develops — elements, fan motors, thermostats, hinges and seals, plus ignition problems on gas models. Belling cookers are lighter built than Rangemaster and the enamel and door hardware wear faster, but nothing about them is difficult or expensive to fix. Parts come through the Glen Dimplex network at reasonable prices and short lead times. Because a replacement cooker of similar size costs several hundred pounds and often needs an electrician or a Gas Safe engineer to install, repairing a sound Belling nearly always makes financial sense. Gas work, as always, is Gas Safe only.

What goes wrong with Belling appliances
Oven and grill element failures
Elements fail open circuit and the oven stops heating or the grill stops browning. It is the most common Belling fault and one of the cheapest repairs. The model and rating plate details determine the exact part, so it is worth photographing them before booking.
Fan oven motor failure
The circulating fan seizes or grows noisy, leading to uneven cooking and eventually to the oven cutting out on its thermal safety. Catching it while it is merely noisy avoids collateral heat damage to the rear panel.
Door seal and hinge wear on double ovens
The top oven door in particular loses its seal, so heat escapes and the fascia and controls get hot. Left alone it can cook the wiring behind the fascia. Seals and hinges are inexpensive and quick to fit.
Gas hob ignition and flame failure device faults
Clicking that will not stop, burners that will not light or that go out when the knob is released. These are Gas Safe jobs — we will not advise any owner to work on the gas side of a cooker, and the repair is booked with a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Electronic timer preventing the oven from heating
Belling ovens with a clock will not heat if the timer is set to auto or has failed. It is a surprisingly common call-out that turns out to be a setting rather than a fault, and where the module has genuinely failed it is replaceable.
