Fisher & Paykel appliance repair
Worth repairing, particularly DishDrawers, because nothing else fits the same aperture and a replacement is expensive. The one thing to plan for is lead time — the repair is usually economic, it just may not be same-week.

Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand company, owned by Haier since 2012, and is best known in the UK for the DishDrawer — a drawer-format dishwasher that is genuinely clever and completely unlike anything else on the market. The refrigeration and cooking products are good quality too, though they are far less common in British kitchens, which is the crux of the repair question.
The engineering is generally sound and the DishDrawer in particular is designed to be serviced, with a modular layout and published diagnostics. What holds owners back is the UK support network: Fisher & Paykel has a much smaller footprint here than in Australasia, so parts can take longer to arrive and fewer independent engineers are familiar with the platform. The common faults are DishDrawer lid seals and drain issues, door seals on refrigeration, and control module problems. Where parts are available these are worthwhile repairs, because replacement is expensive and, in the case of a DishDrawer, there is no direct equivalent from another brand that fits the same aperture.
Parts and availability
Parts are available through the UK Fisher & Paykel network and specialist suppliers, but stock levels are lower than for mainstream brands — expect five to ten working days for anything other than common seals and pumps, at premium prices.

What goes wrong with Fisher & Paykel appliances
DishDrawer lid seal failure and leaks
The DishDrawer seals against a motorised lid, and the seal hardens or distorts over time so water escapes during the wash and trips the flood protection. It is the single most common Fisher & Paykel fault we see, and the seal is a serviceable part.
DishDrawer drain and drain pump faults
Debris gets past the filter into the sump and jams the pump, leaving water in the drawer at the end of the cycle. Because the drawer is shallow, even a small blockage causes problems. Clearing it promptly usually saves the pump.
Motor and control module faults on washing machines
Fisher & Paykel uses its own direct-drive motor and control platform. Failures are not frequent but they are specific to the brand, and diagnosis needs an engineer familiar with the system rather than generic testing.
Refrigeration door seals and hinge alignment
Door gaskets harden with age and the cabinet frosts up and over-runs. On the larger French-door models the hinges also need periodic adjustment to keep the seal true. Both are ordinary maintenance items rather than serious faults.
Parts lead times in the UK
The UK network is smaller than in Australasia, and some components have to be ordered in rather than pulled from local stock. Availability is generally good, but a week is a realistic expectation for anything beyond common seals and pumps.
