Gaggenau appliance repair
Almost always worth repairing. Replacement appliances cost thousands, and in fitted kitchens the aperture sizes and panel arrangements often mean a different brand simply will not go in. Even a premium part and a longer labour time is far cheaper than the alternative.

documented
Gaggenau is the top of the BSH tree and is genuinely a different proposition from Bosch or Neff — heavy stainless construction, professional-grade hardware, and appliances designed on the assumption they will be in the kitchen for twenty years. In our area they turn up in high-end Cambridge renovations and barn conversions, usually as part of a fully integrated scheme where every appliance is built into bespoke joinery.
That integration is the main practical issue in repair. Removing a Gaggenau oven or a Vario cooktop from a bespoke housing takes care and time, and any damage to surrounding cabinetry is expensive to put right. Parts are excellent quality and supported for a long time through BSH, but they carry a premium and some specialist components come to order from Germany. The faults themselves are conventional: heating elements, fan motors, door hinges, touch modules and dishwasher drain and seal problems. Because replacement is so expensive and often means altering the kitchen, repairing a Gaggenau is almost always the correct decision.
Parts and availability
Gaggenau parts are supported through BSH for the long term and are of excellent quality, but they carry a substantial premium — elements and fans from around £85, touch modules and boards from £250 upwards, with specialist items coming to order from Germany in three to seven working days.

What goes wrong with Gaggenau appliances
Touch control and display module failures
Steam, heat and grease degrade the ribbon connections behind the glass control panel, causing dead zones, ghost presses or a full lockout. It affects ovens and Vario cooktops alike. The module is replaced rather than repaired, and it is a premium part.
Oven element and fan motor wear
Even at this level, elements fail and fan bearings dry out. The oven heats slowly, browns unevenly or becomes audibly rougher over a period of weeks. Both are standard serviceable components and the repair is contained once the appliance is out of the housing.
Door hinge sag on heavy multi-glazed doors
Gaggenau doors are heavy and hinge wear lets them sit slightly proud of the seal, so heat escapes and the fascia runs hot. Hinges are replaced in pairs and the door glass is realigned as part of the job.
Dishwasher leaks tripping the base float
A perished sump seal or a split spray-arm feed lets water reach the base tray and the anti-flood float shuts the machine down. The mechanics are shared with the rest of BSH, so diagnosis is familiar even though the cabinetry integration takes longer.
Integration and access adding to labour time
Appliances built into bespoke joinery take considerably longer to remove and refit than freestanding equivalents, and some installations need the surrounding units easing out first. It is a real cost factor, and we allow for it in the quote rather than surprising anyone on the day.
