Hisense appliance repair
Worth repairing in the first four or five years for common faults, where parts are cheap and the machine still has plenty of life. Beyond that, weigh the repair — and the wait for parts — against a low replacement price, and be sceptical of any expensive job on an older unit.

Hisense has grown quickly in the UK, mostly on price. The appliances are competitively specified — big American-style fridge freezers, high spin speeds, inverter motors — for noticeably less than the established brands charge. Build quality has improved over the last few years and current models are respectable, but they are still built to a budget and the fit and finish shows it in places.
From a repair perspective the picture is workable but not ideal. The layouts are conventional and easy to work on, and the common faults are the usual ones — drain pumps, door interlocks, heating elements, defrost failures on frost-free refrigeration. The complication is parts. Hisense's UK spares network is thinner than the mainstream manufacturers, some components are model-specific with no cross-brand equivalent, and lead times of a week are common. That changes the economics: a cheap fault on a recent machine is well worth fixing, but a repair needing an unusual part on an older appliance can cost more in waiting than the machine is worth.
Parts and availability
Hisense parts are available through the UK distributor and specialist suppliers, generally at low to moderate prices, but stock is thinner than mainstream brands and five to ten working days is a realistic lead time for model-specific components.

What goes wrong with Hisense appliances
Drain pump blockages and drain error codes
The machine stops with water in the drum after the filter or pump silts up. It is the most common laundry fault across every budget brand and Hisense is no exception. Clearing it early usually saves the pump; running the machine against a blockage does not.
Door interlock failures on washing machines
The interlock stops confirming the door is locked, so the machine will not start or will not release the door. The part is inexpensive but is often model-specific, which is where the lead time comes in.
Frost-free refrigeration icing up
A failed defrost heater, sensor or thermal fuse lets ice build behind the rear panel, blocking airflow so the fridge warms while the freezer stays cold. Repairable, and much cheaper than replacing a large American-style unit.
Water dispenser and ice maker faults on plumbed fridges
Blocked filters, frozen fill tubes and failed inlet valves stop the dispenser working. These features add a whole extra layer of failure points, and on a budget appliance they are usually the first thing to give trouble.
Thinner UK parts network and longer lead times
Spares are available but the supply chain is not as deep as it is for Bosch, Beko or Hotpoint. A week's wait for a model-specific part is common, which we always factor into the advice rather than leaving a customer without a machine indefinitely.
